What are human qualities and character traits?
A person has both personal qualities and character traits, which are by no means the same thing.
Personal qualities are usually called a set of specific criteria that are inherent specifically to this person and are directly related to his nature. Qualities can be called determination, positive thinking, loyalty, or, on the contrary, a tendency to betrayal.
Man is a complex creature and often manages to combine mutually exclusive qualities.
Character can be called a pattern of behavior. For example, an aggressive character is a clearly established pattern that could be assigned in the family during upbringing or formed over the course of life.
There is a misconception that a person cannot change either his own character traits or personal qualities, however, this is not so. Each person, after realizing certain points, can make a conscious decision - whether it is worth leaving everything as it is or it’s time to change. Change can happen either independently or with the help of therapy. What positive human qualities are and how to develop them in yourself is discussed below.
Volitional characteristics
Let's touch on the main ones:
Purposefulness is a person’s focus on the chosen result of an activity. This property is divided into a strategic variety and a tactical one. The first is, in general, a person’s actions based on his moral positions, values and ideals. The second is the movement of the individual “step by step”, from one micro-goal to another until the result is achieved.
Initiative is a person’s focus on taking action. Usually precedes the beginning of a volitional act. Independent individuals have this property. Initiative is associated with independence.
Independence is a person’s voluntary and active attitude to make decisions in accordance with his principles and beliefs.
Will is not considered an innate quality , but is considered by psychology as a quality, the formation of which occurs on the basis of a person’s personal choice.
How and at what stage the basic personal characteristics of a person are formed
Psychotherapists, doctors and psychologists agree that a person’s personality is established before the first 5 years of life. The child begins to separate himself from the outside world and identify his “I” already at 3 years old. This, by the way, is one of the main reasons why this age is called the most difficult. The child’s whims and those qualities that were previously not noticed in him appear. This is a completely natural process that all parents should be prepared for. Many mothers begin to fear that the child has stopped loving them, however, this is not so - the little person just finds his own “I” and tries to affirm it with all his might. Then the period of conflict with the outside world subsides and the child integrates into the environment with an already established character.
As for adults, everything is relatively clear here. As a person progresses through life, he strengthens his character and habits, making them more stable and permanent.
Autonomy
Autonomy is often associated with battery capacity, but this is not entirely true, because there are other parameters (for example, operating speed) that determine how long a laptop can work without a power source.
Here you should adhere to the following rule: if the laptop becomes part of the home system and will “travel” only in exceptional cases, 5 hours of operation without recharging is enough.
Mobile laptops for school or office must withstand at least 10 hours of battery life.
List of positive human qualities
The positive qualities of a person are a valuable resource that is highly valued by society. Every society has unique requirements for a person and sometimes completely unexpected things are considered to be positive qualities. However, the standards for positive properties are the same almost everywhere, and it is they that will be discussed further. It is necessary to separate to some extent the qualities that men and women should be endowed with, because they perform different roles in society.
For women:
The following are considered positive qualities in women:
- calmness - for a woman this feature is perhaps more important than all others. A lot depends on a woman’s calmness and her ability to control the situation - peace in the family, raising children, relationships with family, friends and colleagues;
- meekness is another very important behavioral reaction, in which a person is able to control his negative emotions and consciously forgive the weaknesses of other people;
- humility is a quality that is necessary for every woman who intends to live a happy life in harmony with the world around her. Humility does not mean “giving up”; it means the ability to adequately assess the situation and accept the real state of things. After this step, you can move on to directly correcting matters or improving the situation;
- kindness - women who radiate kindness always attract people to them and form a healthy company around them. Although this quality is also necessary for representatives of the stronger sex, in men it is responsible for slightly different aspects of life;
- wisdom - and although this quality was given last, in terms of its significance it is not such. Intelligence and wisdom are not the same thing, and sometimes women who have a sharp mind are not distinguished by wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to survive a situation in such a way that in the end there is the most favorable outcome for all parties.
For men:
For men, the following are considered positive qualities:
- strength - not only physical, but also moral. A man by nature must remain strong and be able to protect his family, loved ones, as well as those who depend on him. Strength implies the ability to cope with difficult life situations, overcome difficulties, and solve problems;
- loyalty is a character trait inherent in all successful men. Loyalty means not only loyalty to loved ones and friends, but also complete commitment to one’s own ideas and beliefs. Thanks to this feature, a man is able to achieve unprecedented success;
- responsibility - the ability to be responsible for one’s own words and actions is a very important feature that can raise a man’s authority in the eyes of any person;
- hard work is a sign that is responsible for the quality of life of a man and his loved ones.
Above is a list of the main positive properties that are especially important for representatives of one gender or another. Other character traits rank lower on this list. All these are positive human qualities that are more expected from representatives of one gender or another.
HDD or SSD
We all know that a laptop has built-in memory that can store photos, movies, documents, games, etc. It also stores the installed operating system.
This memory comes in three types:
- hard disk (HDD);
- solid state drive (SSD);
- hybrid hard drive (SSHD).
Hard drives appeared a long time ago, their main advantage is their large capacity (laptops, as a rule, have HDDs from 500 gigabytes to 2000, the most popular ones are 1000 GB).
They have 2 main disadvantages:
- Quite slow work.
- They are afraid of shocks and strong shaking, especially when turned on (in my practice, there were cases when particularly nervous comrades hit the laptop with their fist and the hard drive then failed).
SSD is a more modern format of internal data storage.
Pros of SSD:
- Faster operation than HDD (about 3-5 times, depending on the tasks, as well as the specific drives being compared).
- They are not afraid of moderate shocks and shaking (that is, when a laptop is hit, the SSD will not be a weak point and, perhaps, something else will break, not the SSD. If you have a HDD, after a shock, it will most likely be the first to come out he is the one who built it).
But there are some drawbacks - the cost of SSDs is much higher than hard drives (if you compare drives of the same capacity). Another dubious drawback that you can hear about is the limited resource for writing files to the SSD.
Hybrid hard drive - is a regular large-capacity hard drive plus a built-in small-capacity SSD drive (for example, 1000 GB HDD + 8 GB SSD). The system automatically transfers the most frequently used files to the small built-in SSD, which generally helps to significantly increase the speed of the laptop. Just like regular HDDs, they are afraid of shocks and shaking, but they work a little faster and are more expensive.
Intel continued to develop this idea and offered its drives – Intel Optane. Roughly speaking, this is a small SSD (16 or 32 GB), which is installed in conjunction with a regular hard drive; the system automatically transfers the most frequently used files to Intel Optane, due to which the overall speed of the laptop increases noticeably. Of course, a laptop with Intel Optane lags behind the speed of a laptop with a full-fledged SSD (at least 128 GB), so there is no point in buying Intel Optane, it is better to buy a regular SSD, but if you have a choice between a laptop with Intel Optane or without it at all and without an SSD, it is better to choose the option with Intel Optane (all other characteristics being equal).
So, HDD is slow, SSD is fast but expensive, how do manufacturers get out of the situation?
It’s very simple, they install only HDD in cheap laptop models, and in mid-price segment laptops they install a small SSD, usually 128 GB (the operating system and some resource-intensive programs or games are usually installed on it) + install a hard drive of 500 or 1000 GB (on which you can already store photos, movies, documents, games, etc.).
Also, some laptops in the mid-price segment are equipped with hybrid hard drives or hard drive + Intel Optane. But still, the SSD+HDD option is preferable.
List of negative human qualities
There are a number of negative properties that will never color a person. In general, we can identify both general negative qualities of a person and character traits inherent only to one or another gender. Below we will list exactly those qualities that are unacceptable for a particular gender.
For women:
For women excluded:
- promiscuity - unwillingness to control one’s behavior turns a woman into a vulgar person who will repel everyone around her. Decent people will simply be ashamed of such company and therefore they will avoid it;
- lack of love - the main defining factor of a woman is her emotional state and ability to share love with the world around her. A woman is a mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend or lover - for all these roles the leading component is love;
- slander - uncultured speech, swearing, spreading rumors - all these character traits make a woman unattractive and lower her in the eyes of others;
- Aggression is a parameter resulting from the absence of love. If a woman allows herself to show aggression towards the world, then this only spoils her as a person.
These negative human qualities are also undesirable for men, but in the case of women they are simply unacceptable.
For men:
For men, there are also a number of qualities that lower them in the eyes of others:
- weakness - this property can be considered the most terrible for men. The phrase “survival of the fittest” has a very deep meaning that goes far beyond physical strength. Spiritual and moral weakness leads a man to debauchery; it likens him to an animal. A weak man cannot have either loyalty, dignity, the ability to love, or achieve his goals;
- envy - which, by the way, can be attributed to a manifestation of weakness. This prevents a man from actually proving that he is the best. Ultimately, envy leads a man to inaction;
- infantilism - there is a phrase: “all men are boys at heart.” The ability to retain a child within oneself and to be infantile are not the same thing. The child in a man helps to maintain curiosity, interest in life, and the ability to cope with tasks playfully. Infantility leads to irresponsibility and inability to take responsibility for one’s own actions. As a result, such men turn into whiners, for whom only those around them are always to blame for their own troubles.
These negative human qualities overlap to some extent in both sexes, but to a clear extent they are distinguished in the above way.
Negative and positive qualities of a person for a resume for employment
There are personal positive or negative qualities of a person that determine his role in society and relationships with others, as well as properties that are assessed during employment. They may overlap to some extent with personal aspects of life, but are still largely responsible for work activities.
What character qualities do you need to mention to get hired?
Next we will talk about the features that will always be valued by employers. These criteria are equivalent for both men and women.
Employers place above all else:
- hard work - a person who loves to work will always get a job, regardless of the degree of his skills. Many employers are even willing to make concessions and train a new employee if he is hardworking enough;
- loyalty - loyalty and devotion indicate that a person will be able to work with this company for a long time, which will help its promotion;
- ability to cope with conflict situations - in any company and field of activity, conflict situations inevitably arise, from which a person must be able to emerge with dignity. But the ability to neutralize conflict at the stage of its emergence is a real art that is highly valued;
- desire to develop - workers who always improve their own skills will be valued above others.
Advanced training inevitably leads to improvement and automation of processes that any company strives for.
These qualities are enough to look like a worthy candidate for a job in the eyes of a potential employer. By demonstrating these positive qualities a person can count on getting the desired position.
What is better to remain silent about so as not to scare off the employer?
Along with the positive properties, there are also some aspects that are best hidden from the employer. These are not necessarily bad qualities that spoil a person as a specialist. On the contrary, sometimes even “too good” is quite bad.
Let's try to look at everything that might scare off a potential employer:
- quarrelsome character - a love of conflict can put an end to the career of even the most outstanding specialist;
- Excessive ambition is an excellent quality for a specialist, but a daunting one for an employer. For his part, he will only see a person who will leave the company at the first lucrative offer or will demand too much. Such issues should be dealt with softly and politically, and not with a crude statement of one's own ambition;
- laziness - no one needs a lazy employee who will carry out his duties with his sleeves down;
- lack of discipline - if an employee shows that he allows himself to constantly be late for work or miss deadlines, then most likely they will not keep him in the company for a long time.
More often than not, such people are simply not hired in the first place.
Of course, you shouldn’t brag about such qualities to your employer; you need to achieve your goals carefully, while keeping in mind the benefits for both parties.
Choosing a laptop for your tasks
Now it’s worth considering what characteristics a laptop should have for different types of activities.
For work, you can purchase a miniature Windows-based device with a 15.6-inch screen, an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM and SSD storage. Having a discrete card is not at all necessary, but battery life is better from 10 hours. As for the screen, for long-term use it is advisable to invest in an IPS matrix and Full HD resolution.
A device that will easily provide comfortable work with Internet pages, text editors, tables, and is suitable for preparing presentations and checking email is suitable for the office..
Such tasks will be possible for laptops with 4 GB of RAM, a 15.6-inch screen, an Intel Core i3 processor or a more budget AMD Ryzen 3, a TN matrix and HD resolution. Battery life is 5-7 hours.
Dimensions and autonomy are important for studying, so you can make your choice in favor of a 13.3-inch laptop or ultrabook with Windows OS, 8 GB of RAM, Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 processor, built-in video card, Full HD resolution and IPS- matrix. The battery should last at least 10 hours, and you can choose a plastic case.
A universal home laptop can have a 17.3-inch diagonal screen, preferably with a matte finish, 2K resolution, IPS matrix, SSD storage, 16 GB of RAM and any operating system.
It is better to choose Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 as a processor; for better performance, you should consider Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7. Battery life is not important.
Finally, gaming systems must be powerful, performant and have very good graphics.
For this reason, the best option would be a large 17.3-inch laptop with an 11th generation Intel processor running Windows OS, always with a discrete graphics card, at least 16 GB of memory, an IPS matrix, SSHD memory, a powerful video card and several USB ports .
Top positive personality traits that everyone wants to have
Self-development is the main task set by many teachings. Buddhism offers to rise above worldly weaknesses, Christianity presents a whole set of rules that every person must follow. But if you try to delve deeper into this topic, it immediately becomes clear that all religions and philosophical teachings are aimed at helping a person become better.
And there is a whole list of properties that can be called universal in relation to the positive characteristics of a person:
- love - every day of a person’s life should be spent lovingly;
- kindness - a conscious positive attitude towards others;
- honesty - the ability to be honest not only in relation to other people, but also, first of all, to oneself;
- Decency - the ability to act correctly and conscientiously in any situation;
- justice is a skill that allows you to objectively assess the situation and make the right decision;
- energy is a talent that will not only help you achieve your goals, but also energize those around you;
- positive thinking - the ability to look at things easily and look for the positive sides in everything;
- humor - a healthy sense of humor can perform miracles;
- hard work is a quality that makes a person successful in life and helps to achieve positive results;
- curiosity - a healthy curiosity about life contributes to personal development;
- empathy - the ability to empathize with another person, to put oneself in his place;
- desire to develop - not only professionally, but also morally;
- the ability to help - the ability to come to the aid of those in need - is a very important property that is inherent in worthy people.
These positive qualities of a person relate only to the main criteria; there are a great many varieties of positive aspects of a person and you can write about them for quite a long time.
Negative qualities of people that push you away
Just as with positive qualities, there are a number of negative qualities that will always turn people off, no matter who they are.
Below are some of them:
- anger - a manifestation of malice, inability to control aggression, slander and even deliberate harm to others;
- envy - constant belittling of other people's achievements;
- stinginess - reluctance to share joy and pleasant moments with others, the desire to take possession of all the benefits despite causing harm to other people;
- weakness - inaction, fear and despondency - no one wants to get involved with such people, because they literally radiate hopelessness and spoil the mood;
- laziness - despite the fact that “laziness is the engine of progress,” laziness in its unhealthy manifestation can lead to sad consequences, disrupt the plans of others or even ruin the entire outcome of affairs;
- inability to control oneself is a character trait that can ruin the mood of the entire environment;
- arrogance - only people who do not take others into account for some reason can put themselves above everyone else. It doesn’t matter why a person behaves this way - due to mental trauma or due to upbringing, arrogance will not help you become better.
These negative properties can top any list. All other features are in one way or another either derivatives or variations of the above properties.
How to develop only positive character traits
A person can set a goal to become better in many ways and change character traits. It is possible to develop the positive qualities of a person, and this is hard and painstaking work that can lead to stunning results. Psychologists issue many recommendations that will help improve your own character and make you a better person.
In general, the entire work process can be reduced to the following scheme:
- it is necessary to make a list of two columns, one of which will contain what a person considers to be positive qualities, and the other what he considers to be negative qualities. In this case, there should be no personal comparisons; the list should be compiled completely objectively, without regard to one’s own person;
- next to each item, regardless of which column it is in, you need to mark “I have” or “I do not have.” The more I “possess” in the column with positive properties, and, accordingly, the fewer of them in the negative ones, the better for a person;
- now you should proceed to the next step - write down all the positive traits that a person lacks and try to formulate on paper how you can gain them;
- the same should be done with negative qualities, only you need to write down those that are inherent in a person, as well as how you can get rid of them;
- Now, at the end of each day, you need to provide a short summary, in which you make notes on where the person was able to control himself and become better, and where he was not. Advice for the future - making mistakes is completely natural and you need to be able to accept them. Only after fully accepting your negative aspects can you begin to eliminate them.
The positive and negative qualities of a person are a rich and deep topic for discussion. This article provides only basic information that can be taken as an introduction to this deep and multifaceted topic. After reading it, the reader should form a rough idea of this topic, which will help him orient himself in the further study of character traits or even begin to take certain steps.
