Strength of character: how it manifests itself and how it is cultivated

What is the manifestation of strength and strength of character and how to cultivate these qualities in yourself? We often talk about this with our daughter, who talks about the problems of her friends and girlfriends. Some people lack the strength of character to defend their point of view, while others cannot fight back against hooligans in the yard. What is strength of character and what does it depend on? How to express yourself in this world so that others begin to respect and appreciate you? I want to tell you about this in this article.

What is strength of character? (final essays)

Option 1

I think this is a person’s ability to achieve a goal, the ability to overcome difficulties and various obstacles and defend their beliefs. Strength of character is freedom from prejudice and stereotypes.

The heroes of K.G. have this character. Paustovsky. Staff Captain Ivanov did not hesitate to do the work of his sick orderly. This man taught the high school student, on whose behalf the story is told, not to be shy about simple things. The boy at first felt shame because he was carrying a bag of cabbage, but then he “not only did not shy away from rough work, but asked for it in every possible way.” In this way he developed a strong character.

One day I was watching my friend chop wood. He didn’t succeed for a long time, but she persistently continued to try until he achieved his goal.

Only a person with a strong character is able to persevere in achieving his goal.

Option 2

We often hear from adults that it is necessary to develop strength of character. What is this? I think that strength of character is a quality of a person that is expressed in the ability to regulate one’s emotions and make the right decisions in difficult life situations.

I believe that not every person has strength of character. After all, it can be so difficult in a difficult situation to pull yourself together, make the right decision, and also be patient in achieving your goal. Sometimes it is necessary to show composure, sometimes mercy. But, in any case, you need to be able to lead yourself, and sometimes other people, in order to get out on your own and get other people out of a difficult situation.

And this is extremely difficult. Strength of character and physical strength are not the same thing. Even a physically weak person can show strength of character. A striking example of the manifestation of strength of character is the behavior of Drap, the hero of the story by A. Green, the source text of which was offered to me for analysis.

Despite the fact that his daughter accidentally destroyed his many years of scientific work, he restrained his emotions and came to the right decision to start over. It is unknown how another person would behave if he found himself in a similar situation.

There are many examples in fiction where people sometimes display incredible strength of character. For example, the main character of Mikhail Sholokhov’s story “The Fate of Man,” Andrei Sokolov, having lost his closest and dearest, his family, during the war, did not give up. He found the strength to continue living.

Sokolov worked and even adopted an orphan boy, Vanyushka, giving him family happiness. I believe that this is the act of a strong character. Thus, judging by the arguments I have given, it can be argued that strength of character is an important quality of a person that needs to be nurtured and developed.

Option 3

Fortitude is an abstract concept that has hidden meaning. I think that fortitude is, firstly, determination, faith in yourself and your strengths; secondly, positive ambition, perseverance and resilience. It allows a person to believe in the best even in the most seemingly hopeless situations, to overcome difficulties and life's adversities.

Many people are accustomed to feeling sorry for themselves, but those who have truly encountered misfortune, for example, remaining disabled, find the vital strength to live on, their spirit strengthens, and they even enjoy life, adapting to it. It's hard not to admire such people. I recently watched a report by a journalist who, as an experiment, spent an entire day confined to a wheelchair with a public figure who was himself a person with disabilities.

In fact, it is very difficult to be deprived of legs; even walking a few meters seems like overwhelming work. But such people do not give up, they try not to give up. The person participating in the experiment talked about his life, how he suddenly became disabled, how difficult it was to adapt, and how he became a public figure. This man prevailed over the circumstances, and even opened a sports club for the same disabled people, where they can train in various sports, sometimes they participate in the Paralympic Games. This is the power of the spirit!

A striking example of a demonstration of willpower are stories about people who survived the terrible war years. War changes people, creating conditions for strengthening the spirit. People fought for every breath, stood to the death, not afraid of anything or anyone - real heroes. Their fortitude was so strong that nothing could stop them. For example, the hero of “The Tale of a Real Man” flew with amputated legs, overcoming pain. It is this kind of fortitude that should be admired.

In conclusion, we can conclude that fortitude is the greatest quality of a person, which helps to overcome oneself and move forward towards the intended goal, no matter what.

Option 4

In my opinion, strength of character is one of the qualities that makes a person persistent and unbending. Strength comes from self-confidence, will and perseverance. The concept plays a huge role in our lives, because the higher the strength of character, the more confident and calm you feel.

An excellent confirmation of this idea is the text of Alexander Green and my life experience. So, in the text this concept is revealed in Tavi’s action. This is Drap's daughter, who came to visit him to help her father and celebrate the holiday. She mistakenly, wanting to give her father coffee and bring joy with her care, burned a very important manuscript.

Tavi didn’t even realize that Drep was crying from the pain of the unbearable loss of many years of work. But he had the strength of character not to say a word about it, so as not to spoil his daughter’s joy of meeting him. The hero understands that he will have to restore the manuscript for a long time, but he will do this, remembering his daughter’s heart and her caring hands. Drap was happy that his daughter brought cleanliness and warmth to the house (sentences 54–55).

Strength of character manifests itself not only in difficult moments of life, but also in joyful ones. Sometimes it is equally important to hold back tears of joy. I can prove my opinion with an example from life experience. One day I happened to witness an event that crushed me: it was a ballroom dancing competition.

One couple took 6th place and were unhappy with the result, but they did not cry. But the couple who took 1st place cried with joy; they did not have enough strength of character to restrain the surging feelings. Thus, the manifestation of strength of character is necessary for every person, and it must be trained from youth.

Option 5

Since ancient times, the Russian people have surprised all the peoples of the world with the strength of their spirit and character. It is not for nothing that there were legends among many nations that it was almost impossible to defeat the Russian people, that Russian warriors were fearless and never retreated in the face of danger.

Let us at least remember the heroes of the monument of ancient Russian writing - “The Lay of Igor’s Campaign”. The author of “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign” departs from the objective historical sequence of events and, like an artist, unfolds a vivid panorama of poetic paintings and images. He does not so much talk about individual facts of Igor’s campaign as he reflects on the fate of his native land, hovering over the past and future - “from old Vladimir to present Igor.” The central images of “The Lay...” are the Russian land and the Russian people. No matter what the author writes about or which prince he remembers, he does not forget his fatherland. Walking behind Igor’s army, he proclaims several times: “O Russian land, you are already behind the curtain!”

Thus, the author tries to emphasize that it is their native land that is the main value for Russian soldiers, it is for it that they are ready to give their lives, and it, in turn, protects them from harm. Perhaps it is precisely in this holy attitude towards the native land that the strength of the Russian character lies? But let’s try to follow the author further in search of an answer to our question.

After the tragic battle on the Kayala River, “the black earth under the hooves was strewn with bones and watered with blood: the entire Russian land was overcome with anguish!”, and the brave Russians “perished for the Russian land.” After this, according to the author, “longing poured out for the Russian land, an inescapable sadness flowed through the Russian land.” Having learned about the defeat, the Kiev prince Svyatoslav, in his “golden word” mixed with tears, several times conjures his compatriots to stand up “for the Russian land, for Igor’s wounds.” Thus, we are once again convinced of the value and significance for the Russians of protecting Rus' from adversity, of unity in this struggle.

At the same time, the image of the Russian people appears in the poem: a warrior people, a warrior people, a people who are defenders of their native land. Prince Vsevolod proudly speaks of his warriors that they were “swaddled” under pipes, “grown” under helmets, and fed from the tip of a spear. They do not go out on a campaign as conquerors. For them, Polovtsian wealth is worthless; they treat trophies with disdain. War warriors fearlessly die for the Russian land.

The author speaks about this with sadness, complaining about princely discord, which entails death and ruin.

In “The Lay...” the images of ancient Russian princes are vividly presented. The images of the courageous warrior brothers Igor and Vsevolod are most clearly depicted. The author speaks about them with sympathy, admires their courage, but at the same time criticizes their self-will and love of glory, the inconsistency of their actions with the policies of other princes, the prince of Kyiv.

The author deviates from historical truth, idealizing and glorifying the image of the great Kyiv prince Svyatoslav, but does this with a specific political purpose, since he considers Kyiv as the center of the unification of Russian principalities into a single feudal state. The image of Svyatoslav - a wise, balanced ruler and commander, formidable for the Polovtsy, the saddened “father” of the defeated Russians - is revealed in his symbolic “dark” dream and “golden word”, “mixed with tears,” which is the central part of the poem. This traditional artistic technique gives the author the opportunity to evaluate the activities of Russian princes of the 11th-12th centuries.

The female images of the poem are also striking - Yaroslavna, mourning on the rampart in Putivl, the defeat and captivity of her husband, the gentle Glebovna, Vsevolod's wife - who became the embodiment of fidelity and eternity of life, waiting, sanctified by love, the immutability of goodness on the blood-stained earth. And we can see that Russian women are as strong as warriors, but their strength lies in loyalty, devotion to their chosen ones, which gives them confidence in their struggle.

In Russian classical literature, female characters have more than once become the embodiment of the best features of the national character. Among them are Katerina A. N. Ostrovsky, Daria and Matryona Timofeevna N. A. Nekrasova, Princess Marya Bolkonskaya and Natasha Rostova L. N. Tolstoy, Olga Ilyinskaya I. A. Goncharova, expressive images of the heroines of many works by I. S. Turgenev, I. A. Bunina.

Despite the undeniable differences in life circumstances, all the heroines of the works of Russian writers undoubtedly have the main common feature. They are distinguished by the ability to love deeply and selflessly, revealing themselves as individuals with a deep inner world. And the first in this row are the heroic female images of “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign.”

The author of the ancient Russian monument managed to rise above the selfish interests of the princes, their selfish and ambitious policies and express the interests of the entire Russian people, their desire for unity and peace, the desire to preserve their integrity and culture, demonstrate the exceptional strength of spirit of the Russian people, their readiness for heroism in the name of their native land. land.

The strength of the Russian character can also be traced through historical example.

Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov, whose fate and work are a remarkable example of selfless service to his homeland, was born in 1711 into the family of a Pomor peasant, in a village located on one of the islands of the Northern Dvina, near the city of Kholmogory. From the age of ten, Lomonosov experienced all the difficulties of the sea trade in which his father was engaged, and they strengthened his courage, endurance, and resourcefulness. Thanks to all these qualities, he became the author of remarkable discoveries, the creator of fundamental and original scientific works.

“Historian, rhetorician, physicist, mechanic, chemist, mineralogist, artist and poet,” - this is what A. S. Pushkin said about him. Indeed, it is difficult to name an area of knowledge in which the genius of Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov would not manifest itself. He experimentally proved the law of conservation of matter, studied phenomena related to atmospheric electricity, supervised the construction of a factory for the production of colored glass - smalt, he himself created several mosaic canvases and panels, and was the first to talk about the possibility of navigation on the Arctic Ocean.

Being the founder of Russian chemical science, he developed problems in a completely new field of knowledge for that time - physical chemistry. Lomonosov also studied the problems of geology, finding the cause of earthquakes, discovering the organic origin of underground minerals - peat, coal, oil, etc.

He was interested in astronomy and conducted observations of celestial bodies using a self-constructed telescope. He also made a great contribution to the development of historical science. Lomonosov was rightfully proud of his people, who, in difficult living conditions, “not only did not waste themselves,” but also achieved the highest degree of majesty, power and glory.”

However, Lomonosov made the most significant contribution to the development of national literature. He achieved unity of content and form in the literary language. The result of Lomonosov’s painstaking and intense work on the literary language were his philological works “Rhetoric”, “Grammar”, and the treatise “On the Use of Church Books in the Russian Language”. At the same time, his own literary heritage is quite diverse and covers all genres and trends. The majestic, solemn and deeply soulful position of Lomonosov was completely subordinated to the spiritual and material needs of the people.

Mikhail Lomonosov became the founder of the first Russian university. This university is located in Moscow and bears his name.

Thus, we see how the son of a simple fisherman, thanks to the sheer strength of his character, achieved the fulfillment of his dream. The educational role of his life and personality was noted at one time by the famous critic V. G. Belinsky: “Young people with special attention and special love should study his life, carry his majestic image in their souls,” because all their energy, knowledge and talent M V. Lomonosov directed to the struggle for a new, enlightened, powerful and majestic homeland, glorifying in his works Russian heroes “from the farmer to the tsar.” His entire life and work are an excellent example of devoted service to the fatherland.

The biography of another person can serve as an example of the exceptional strength of Russian character.

Academician S.P. Korolev is a famous scientist and founder of practical cosmonautics. He was the chief designer of the first earth satellites and spacecraft. In 1923, while still a boy, Sergei Korolev joined a glider club, where he learned to design gliders. In 1925, Korolev entered the Polytechnic Institute, where he studied aviation and mathematics, but in the evenings he needed to earn money. He was a builder, worked at the post office, and played small roles in films.

Having moved to Moscow, Korolev worked at an aircraft factory during the day, studied at the Moscow Higher Technical School in the evenings, and after lectures worked at home, designing new aircraft. He made incredible efforts to achieve his goal, to fulfill his wonderful childhood dream and the dream of all mankind - to fly. At the Moscow Technical School, Korolev became acquainted with Tsiolkovsky’s space flight ideas and his rocket.

During the Great Patriotic War, Korolev created a jet engine for airplanes and rockets, and on October 4, 1957, the first artificial Earth satellite was launched. This satellite was the result of thirty years of hard work by many people, and Korolev was its chief designer. Then the dogs flew into space. And only after many experiments did the first cosmonaut of the world, Yu. A. Gagarin, fly into space - on the Vostok spacecraft. It was April 12, 1961. Yu. A. Gagarin is also a wonderful example of the strength of the Russian national character, the desire to achieve goals, and service to one’s fatherland. People will always remember the names of those who opened a new era in the conquest of space.

Thus, the strength and beauty of the character of the Russian people are manifested primarily in devoted love for their land, in the desire to do everything possible for its sake, in faith in their strength and desire to constantly move forward, as well as in boundless courage and philanthropy.

Essay on Russian character

Many works, both domestic and foreign literature, often describe a stereotypical image of the Russian soul, Russian character, behavior, principles and foundations. Many of them may be erroneous, incorrect, and carry harmful information for the reader, but they also allow you to look at the opinion from other points of view on this issue, namely: Russian character in literature.

The Russian character appears to us as very strong, proud, independent, but, at the same time, wise, kind, and sympathetic. Also, sometimes in literary works one more quality of the Russian character is highlighted - intractability and unsociability, under which a deep soul usually hides. In many ways, this image of the Russian man and his character is due to works in which the Russian martial spirit, capable of performing feats, is glorified, and these feats themselves are also glorified.

The entire Russian image is based on the search for feats, finding them, and performing them, after which the memory of this finds its place in the chronicle. For many centuries, Rus' needed heroes who could help their homeland fight the threat hanging over it, and as we know from history, there were many of them. It was precisely this situation and these sentiments in Rus' that for a long time created the same image of the Russian man, an invincible, eternally fighting warrior.

But just as the military part of Russian life is revealed, and its character in a given situation, the routine of the Russian person, his attitude towards it, priorities, and behavior are also described in many works. In literature, I describe the behavior and character of Russian people in everyday life as very calm, reasonable, thinking about the future, and trying to do as much as possible for their family and friends. Such people prevailed, and probably still prevail, in our homeland. The character of a typical homebody, who can stand up for everything that is dear to him, is inherent in the majority of our compatriots.

But in everything good there is a place for bad. Sometimes in the description of the Russian character they talk about things that would be better to remain silent about. Sometimes a Russian person is shown as a very unpleasant person who doesn’t care about anything but himself. Such people, unfortunately, are also present in our homeland, which is why sometimes a false opinion is formed about us, because through literary works, in particular through classical works, a person gets acquainted with the world and its population.

Self confidence

A psychologically strong person knows that his beliefs greatly influence whether he achieves success. This is not just a matter of motivation, it is a real fact. Researchers have found that more confident people earn more and move up the career ladder faster. True confidence is always visible and cannot be confused with the false confidence that people use to hide their fears. Psychologically strong people know how to inspire others with their confidence, so everything works out better in their lives.

The character of the Russian people - essay

For ten centuries, our country has been subjected to the most difficult trials. Since the time of Vladimir, fate has tested the Russian people for “strength.” How many wars have befallen Rus'? Then there was the Russian Empire, then the Soviet Union. But even today, unshakable Russia is “passing the test” for perseverance.

Of course, the character of one person has nothing in common with the character of an entire people. Alone we can be lazy, melancholic, envious. But by uniting, all negative qualities go away. All that remains is unbroken fortitude, courage, honesty and mutual understanding.

All this is not unfounded: “Moscow, burned by fire, was given to the French...”. Back in 1812, subjects of the Russian Empire showed Napoleon’s army “where the crayfish spend the winter.” How did people with virtually no knowledge of military affairs manage to defeat the strong French army? Faith and common cause!

Revolution! Murder of the royal family. There is no justification for those terrible acts of 1917. Whites against reds. Reds against whites. But on the “remains” of the Russian Empire, like a phoenix from the ashes, the Soviet Union is born.

The Russian character can be described not only by love for the Motherland, but also by love of one’s neighbor. From literature, films, and history textbooks, we know how selflessly female nurses carried wounded soldiers from the battlefield on their fragile shoulders.

Russian character is also compassion. After all, those nurses did not divide the wounded into “friends and foes.” The Great Patriotic War became the apogee of Russian resilience. Even remembering the fact that the atheist Stalin allowed the flight with an icon over the battlefield, suggests that the Russian spirit is strong and its strength lies in unity.

Ninety-first year. The burdens of life are once again falling on the shoulders of the Russian people. The collapse of the Union, uncertainty in the country, crisis. But cities continued to be built, people went to work, got married, and had children. Life flowed on, no one despaired.

Twenty first century. News pages of newspapers, television, radio - broadcast about ongoing conspiracies against our country. World War III – information war. But even today, Russians unite against their enemies and fight back not only with actions, but also with words.

But even such a seemingly trifle as the “World Cup” once again united our country, made all the fans of our team one! Not only fans, but also football players united. They "played for us"! The Russian national team does not go home like football players from other countries. Our team is already home, we have already won! Again! Unbroken Russian spirit!

Getting rid of old things

You definitely need to get rid of old things that are dragging you down. Those things that you haven’t used for several months should either be given to someone or thrown away. The same applies to people, if you do not communicate with a person and it is unlikely that he will be useful to you, then you need to boldly part with him. And don’t worry about those things and people you broke up with. Remember that there will be many useful and necessary acquaintances in your life. You just have to wait.

It is also imperative to part with those people and things that make you sad and remind you of something unpleasant. If you get rid of negativity in time, you will be able to find harmony and focus on what you really need.

You need to give up everything that you don't need. And you shouldn’t think about leaving this or that thing. You need to understand that you need to live in the present and make room in your life for the present, getting rid of the old and unnecessary.

Essay Russian national character

Even in past centuries, great Russian writers composed poems, wrote stories and essays about the character of the Russian person; there are many quotes and aphorisms on this topic.

The character developed together with the development and history of Russia. Absolutely everything influenced the formation: the harsh climate, religion, multinationality, the rulers of the country with their own laws and charters, the vastness of the land, and more.

The main features are considered to be: gentleness, benevolence, hospitality, breadth of soul, compassion, a heightened sense of justice, humility, and perseverance.

Heroism.

A Russian person can be a hero every day:

  • Left all the work for later - heroically completed it in a short time;
  • He created problems for himself - he overcame them brilliantly, solving some issues along the way;
  • The management requires a plan - please, here's one that's overfulfilled.

If we take examples from the war years, the slogan “everything for the war, everything for the front!”, they gave away the last piece of bread just to support the country, leaving nothing for themselves. Here we can also see complete dedication, self-sacrifice for the common good, for a common goal.

In general, the Russian people are not characterized by: cynicism, selfishness, arrogance, arrogance, lies. Very self-critical, doubting themselves and their actions. Sometimes they reflect on the essence of existence and philosophize.

Dedication.

For the sake of loved ones and relatives, they are able to sacrifice their own interests, change their plans and daily routine. To complete the work they can completely “dissolve” in it; an approximate slogan is “Either do it well, or not do it at all.”

Thinking outside the box.

In the modern world this is called a “life hack”, the ability to make the impossible possible. A variety of devices for the convenience of life, performing any work, making work easier and solving complex technical problems.

This quality gave rise to many smart ideas and ideas in the country: the first computer, a multi-engine airplane, an electric car (the ancestor of modern trams), electric arc welding, a pipeline. Many discoveries and achievements in medicine: surgery, antibiotics, the immune system.

But due to the peculiarities of government regulation, many discoveries ceased to develop in their homeland, gradually moving abroad and have already received full recognition there.

Patience.

They can endure the hardships and hardships of life for a long time. Hoping for “Maybe” and “tomorrow will be better than yesterday.” But if the cup of patience is overflowing, the consequences are very unpredictable.

In general, the people are patriotic and treat their Motherland and their country with trepidation.

Emotional intellect

Psychological strength is determined by emotional intelligence. You cannot be a psychologically strong person if you do not understand negative emotions, do not know how to manage them and achieve a productive result in spite of everything. The moments in which your psychological strength is tested also test your emotional intelligence. This is a flexible skill that you can develop through conscious effort. All the most successful people have high emotional intelligence. It is relatively rare: only thirty-six percent of people are able to recognize what emotions they are experiencing.

Essay “Strength of Character” - OGE

Strength of character is the ability to remain calm in any situation, the ability to make an effort over one’s emotions, weakness or anger. Only a person with a strong character will be able to keep his feelings in check, even if they rush out. I believe that a person can develop strength of character as well as willpower. Various life situations, trials, and work on yourself will help strengthen your character.

The scientist Egmont Drap, described in this passage, is a prime example of a person with strength of character. From the passage it is clear to us that Drap devoted a lot of time to scientific work; he no longer remembered his life without this manuscript. But in an instant, by chance, he lost this work. The scientist was shocked and almost turned gray. He was both hurt and offended because of the lost time. He understood that he would have to start all over again and spend at least five years on it. But he pulled himself together and did not reveal his condition in any way. Egmont demonstrated strength of character and hid his shock so as not to upset Tavi.

When I talk about strength of character, I think of my grandmother. When she lost her beloved son in the war, she, despite everything, held on, not showing her condition to the people who came to express condolences. The grandmother did not want to upset her family and loved ones even more, so she restrained herself and did not show her tears. And although everyone understood the grief that befell her, no one saw the grandmother broken. This, I think, is an example of strength of character and fortitude.

Strength of character is the ability to exert purposeful willpower. Few people can pull themselves together at a decisive moment and direct their efforts in the right direction. But the heroes of K. Paustovsky clearly belong to them.

What distinguishes strong and weak people

There is a big difference between strong and weak people. It comes down to the following points:

A strong personality does not look for those to blame and does not waste time on regrets. There are always difficulties in every person's life. Illnesses, losses, breakups, changes, etc. negatively affect people, making them feel weak and vulnerable. Dejection and pessimism do not allow you to look at the situation objectively and give you the opportunity to overcome it. Strong personalities can endure obstacles without losing their fighting spirit. They learn from the current situation and make efforts to improve the current circumstances. People with a strong-willed character understand that there are many circumstances in life that they cannot influence. Accepting this fact, they work only on what is within their sphere of influence. A person who is weak in spirit tries to control everything that happens around him. When the situation does not turn out the way he wanted, he begins to blame himself or those around him. This position takes a lot of energy and does not bring any benefit to a person. A strong-willed person will not allow other people to control his emotions or decisions. Destructive criticism will not make him feel upset or insecure.

He will not pay attention to gossip and rumors that go behind his back. Regardless of what others think about them, strong-willed people will maintain their self-esteem at the desired level

They will not seek approval, ingratiate themselves, or otherwise gain recognition. Change does not frighten people with strong character. If they understand that they are no longer satisfied with the current situation, for example, the work has become uninteresting or their work is not assessed properly, then they take steps to change it. Leaving your comfort zone and switching to a different lifestyle does not cause depression. Difficulties are not scary either, because a person believes that, thanks to his qualities, he will be able to overcome difficulties. Weak people expect quick results, while strong people understand that it takes time to achieve success. In this regard, a person with an undeveloped will quickly gives up, does not show perseverance, and agrees with what he already has. A strong personality does not compare himself to others and does not envy them. In life there will always be a more beautiful, smarter, luckier person. It is impossible to win the race for supremacy. In addition, each person has different capabilities to achieve a goal: someone has a strong body, a rich family, or developed intellectual abilities. But this does not mean that a person who does not have such abilities should stand in one place. It can develop and grow.

A person with a strong-willed character relies only on himself and carefully allows other people into his life. They know how to value their own and other people’s time, do not waste it on empty conversations or meaningless arguments, and avoid communicating with narrow-minded, aggressive or angry people

They are selective in their choice of contacts

It is important that, unlike weak people, people with great fortitude do not strive to appear to be more than they are. They do not brag, do not exaggerate their merits, do not endow themselves with non-existent qualities and do not lie.

What is strength of character (according to the text by K. Paustovsky)

In the above text, Staff Captain Ivanov temporarily lost the services of an orderly - he became very ill. However, the hero did not lose heart and complain about fate. He himself took on the responsibilities of a colleague and performed them conscientiously. The high school student also took a good example from him. The boy “not only did not shy away from rough work, but asked for it in every possible way.” In difficult moments of testing, a person with a strong character solves problems independently and is not afraid of difficulties.

In the work of A. S. Pushkin “The Captain's Daughter” such an example is also described. Pyotr Grinev goes to rescue his bride alone, risking his life. The young girl was blackmailed by one of Pugachev’s henchmen, Alexey Shvabrin. She urgently needed help, because the torturer was becoming more sophisticated day by day. Peter saved Marya from captivity and did not succumb to fear and weakness. This act showed the strength of his character.

Thus, strength of character is the ability to mobilize all internal forces to fight difficulties and obstacles.

What qualities are inherent in people with a strong-willed character?

Positive traits are common to all people. It cannot be said that a person possessing these qualities automatically becomes the owner of a strong-willed character. However, these qualities contribute to the development of a strong character and their absence should be compensated for.

So, people with a strong character have:

  • discipline and responsibility;
  • honesty;
  • courage, determination and boldness;
  • self-confidence and leadership;
  • respect;
  • compassion;
  • loyalty and reliability;
  • patience and attention;
  • ambition and motivation;
  • determination;
  • justice.

The set of qualities of a woman with a strong character differs from that of a man. For representatives of the stronger sex, the following signs of strong-willed character are added to the above:

  • respect in society;
  • success in the chosen type of activity;
  • loyalty to family and ideal;
  • following your purpose.

A woman with a strong-willed character also has the following traits:

  • independence;
  • ability to collaborate with other people;
  • taking care of yourself and loved ones;
  • accepting others as they are;
  • trusting your intuition.

A child can also have the makings of a strong character. These include the following qualities:

  • anger and stubbornness (not to be confused with aggression and capriciousness);
  • desire for independent decision making;
  • it is difficult to force a child to do something without his consent;
  • emotional response to failures, the desire to deal with it and complete the work started.

Of course, we are not talking about small children whose character is just beginning to form. And their protests and stubbornness may be the product of another age crisis.
